More beautiful, better, richer: the feeling of not being enough is increasing all the time. No matter what the situation, we usually feel like losers in comparison. Where does it come from?
Comparing ourselves to others is nothing new. People used to compare themselves with their neighbours, friends and family. Today, we use social media to compare ourselves with people from near and far. Some we know personally and some we don't.
But watch out! Social media is often more appearance than reality. Everyone shows their best side and posts only what they want to show. It’s perfectly staged and filtered. But who is the person behind the perfectly made-up face and the artificial smile? How are they doing and what do they really feel? We rarely get to see the truth beneath. That’s why it’s so important to not be blinded by this illusory world.
Accept yourself as you are and make the best of it. You’re unique and you don’t need to compare yourself or copy someone else.
- Stop comparing yourself to other people all the time. You don’t need to, because you’re unique.
- Don’t compare the worst of your moments with the best of others!
- Give yourself some distance from people who aren’t good for you and make you feel that you’re not good enough.
